2026 Membership Vote Results

Thank you to everyone who participated in the membership vote which closed May 2. All five motions, which included approval of revised Bylaws, ratification of new dues levels, and support for a proposal to request AKC recognition of Welsh Springers as a ramp mandatory breed, passed by substantial majorities. More details are provided in the title link above. The revised Bylaws now await final AKC approval, which we expect will be in July. This will delay the beginning of the annual membership renewal process until the second half of July.

2027 National Specialty

The 2027 National Specialty will be in Doswell, Virginia on March 27, 2027. The Breed judge will be Ms. Pluis Davern of Royal Oaks, California. Mr. Keith Vooris of Henderson, North Carolina, will judge Sweepstakes. See the 2027 National Specialty page under News and Events for more details.

Ramp Mandatory Designation for WSS

WSSCA has submitted the formal request to the AKC to designate Welsh Springers as a "Ramp Mandatory" breed in conformation judging. The request has been approved by the AKC staff, and will be submitted to the AKC Board for final approval. While the AKC has not provided a specific timeframe for approval, we believe it is likely that the change will become effective in early 2027.

Welsh Springers are versatile dogs and make wonderful family pets.
